Piriformis Syndrome is a Pain in the Ass
The piriformis is a small muscle in the hip. Piriformis syndrome occurs when the sciatic nerve is impinged upon by irritation and swelling in the piriformis muscle.
I had Piriformis Syndrome a few years back. It was terrible. It gave me shooting pains that ran down my leg and I could only sleep about two hours a night.
I finally found a stretch that worked for me. Cured it in less than a week. I still do it daily to make sure I don’t get it again.
- Sit on the floor, on a couch, or on the edge of a bed.
- Bend your leg with the sore piriformis and cross it over your other leg, so that your foot is next to your opposite thigh.
- Hug your bent knee and and pull it toward you. Try to touch it to your opposite side shoulder.
- Repeat with the other leg, if necessary.
If you have another stretch that works for you, let me know in the comments.
