Book Review: Run! 26.2 Stories of Blisters and Bliss by Dean Karnazes

Run! 26.2 Stories of Blisters and Bliss

I recently read Dean Karnazes’ book, Run! 26.2 Stories of Blisters and Bliss.  If you have read Dean’s other books, Ultramarathon Man: Confessions of an All Night Runner and 50/50: Secrets I Learned Running 50 Marathons in 50 Days, you know that Dean is a great storyteller.  This book is no different.

While it isn’t driven by a outrageous goal like running 50 marathons in 50 days, Run! 26.2 Stories of Blisters and Bliss is a collection of stories about Dean’s running adventures and serves up some funny stories about:

  • Almost being run over by an autograph-seeking woman
  • Being refused service at a convenience store after being mistaken for some sort of running hobo
  • Running naked (except for the required reflective vest) at 2 AM in Death Valley in the Badwater Ultramarathon
  • The story behind his ill-fated 48 hour run record attempt on “Live! with Regis and Kelly”
  • Why Dean refused to shake Barack Obama’s hand (and why President Obama is probably glad he did)

If you enjoyed Dean’s other books or if you like stories about crazy running adventures, you will probably like Run! 26.2 Stories of Blisters and Bliss

Have you read any of Dean Karnazes’ books?  What do you think of them? Tell me in the comments.
