Injinji Toesocks - Do They Make a Difference?
I finally broke down and bought some Injinji Toesocks the other day. I had heard that they were helpful in preventing blisters, especially when you are wearing Vibram Five Fingers. I don’t usually get blisters, but I did get one recently on the outside of my right foot, just below little toe.
The Injinji’s look strange when they come out of the package. The toe pockets don’t look like they would fit your toes. And they don’t, to some extent. After putting them on, it seemed like I had a lot of extra material left at the end of my two smallest toes. I’m told that after a few wearings and washings, they mold to your feet.
The Injinji Performance Micro is thinner than the sock I normally wear and I think the CoolMax/Nylon/Lycra blend is a little bit more slippery. I found that I was sliding around a little bit more than normal in my shoes. I probably just need to tie them a little tighter. The feeling of having my toes in separate pockets was also a little strange.
I took the Injinji’s out for a 6 mile run with 8 hill repeats in the middle. They felt fine. No “hot spots” at all. I could be imagining things, but it felt like my feet were more connected to the ground and that I had a better feel for the surface than in my normal socks.
