Do You Need a Multivitamin Designed for Runners?

Runner's Daily CompleteI take a lot of vitamins.  Every day, I take:

  • Multivitamin
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin E
  • Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM
  • Iron (you shouldn’t take iron without a doctor’s OK)

Recently, a multivitamin for runners, Runner’s Daily Complete, was introduced. It contains 38 vitamins and minerals formulated specifically to help runners maintain good health, recover from tough workouts, fight free radicals, and protect their joints from damage.

Dr. David Nieman of Appalachian State University, who has run 58 marathons and ultramarathons, has been studying the ability of antioxidants to reverse the detrimental effect that long-distance running can have on the immune system. Dr. Nieman’s recent research has indicated that taking quercetin in combination with EGCG from green tea extract may help to repair muscle damage and improve immune system function.  Runner’s Daily Complete contains both of these ingredients.  Click here to see the ingredient details for Runner’s Daily Complete.

Runner’s Daily Complete contains no yeast, gluten, wheat, preservatives, sugar, artificial flavors, or caffeine.  It has an all-natural coating for easy digestion.  A 90 tablet (1-2 months) supply of Runner’s Daily Complete costs $34.95.

What kind of vitamins do you take and why?  Have you tried Runner’s Daily Complete?  How did they work for you?  Tell me in the comments.

Disclaimer: I received a sample of Runner’s Daily Complete for evaluation.
